Customer Reviews

Great fun guide. Excellent horses. You can tell horses are kept in quality conditions. - Samantha

Unfortunately, it had some shortcomings. I've cut/paste the review from Trip Advisor below. I contacted someone in Livingstone after the experience and requested a partial refund, but they were not too sympathetic! Thank you. ________________________________________________________________ Horseback ride did not meet expectations or match advertisement Unfortunately, I would probably not recommend this activity. My teenage daughter wanted to ride some horses and I thought getting "stunning views of the VicFalls and the Zambezi River" as noted on the website would be great. We signed up for a two hour afternoon ride. It wasn't a totally negative experience. The driver was on time and helpful. The guide was also kind, though he told us to keep the horses away from each other because they sometimes fight and kick each other. We are not experienced riders, so that was kind of a concern, but fortunately, our horses seemed to behave okay. My first main concern was that we didn't actually get two hours, but closer to 90 minutes of ride time. We got back to the stable and then had to sit around and wait nearly 30 minutes for the driver because we ended early. Not too fun. My second issue was that the ride itself was at least 80% through dusty scrub and only the very last part was along the river, mostly on the hotel grounds. Nor did we see any stunning views of the Falls, only the mist way off in the distance. We also did not see any animals other than some zebra and giraffe on the hotel grounds but can't blame operator for that. Afterwards, I raised these issues via email with the trip broker, Livingstone Adventures, and they disputed my estimate of the ride time, saying it wasn't possible for the ride to be only 90 minutes because the trail took 120 minutes to do. Well, I'm here to tell you that it is possible to do it in 90 minutes, haha, because we did (or the guide took some shortcuts!). We didn't do any galloping either. I think the guide probably wanted to be done with us because we were such beginners and we weren't seeing any animals anyway. On the second part, Livingstone Adventures maintained that seeing some mist of the Falls was sufficient and for safety reasons, couldn't get closer. Okay. But then you need to correctly advertise the ride and not mention any stunning views. Anyway, at $80 pp, this was not a very good value. (plus $10 park fee pp). If you are really into riding and know what you are doing, maybe a longer day or multi-day ride would be a good experience, but our two hour ride was not worth it and was our least favorite activity of our otherwise great time in Livingstone. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g298089-d3165750-r607283325-Livingstone_s_Adventure-Livingstone_Southern_Province.html# - Jeffrey

Excellent guide. We both really enjoyed the ride. - Angela

Lovely horse, great guide and a really nice ride though the nearby park. A slow ride because of the terrain which was fine for me. - Michelle

The guide was the most professional riding tour guide I've ever had. Understood horses well and did a good job to ensure safety of the ride, explained the polo horse characteristics, and was very present and observant all the time. The 2 hour riding route was not super special. I understand that before going to the wild its good to check the riding skills of the client, but as I horse ride in Kenya, in tea farms, safaries etc the riding route in the backyard of a 5 * hotel was not the greatest. The bush riding was cool, and zambesi river side route was a bit annoyingly close to the road (well the water was high so I do understand the limitations). Overall a nice experience, probably the half day ride would have gone a bit further to the bush. thank you! - Saila
